Privacy policy
SplitBrowse is a web browser, and a browser sees a lot. So the short version first: the app collects no telemetry, no analytics and no crash reports, needs no account, and shows no ads. What you do in it is stored on your PC, not with us.
What the app stores on your PC
To work like a browser, SplitBrowse keeps the following on your device, separately for each profile:
- Browsing history and bookmarks
- Cookies, sign-ins and site storage
- Saved passwords and form entries, when Offer to save passwords or Fill in forms is on in Settings
- Your open tabs, splits, split widths and zoom levels, so your layout comes back next time
- Profile names and colours, and your app settings
None of this is sent to us. You can erase a profile's data at any time from Settings › Clear browsing data. Clearing one profile leaves your other profiles untouched.
What we don't collect
SplitBrowse has no servers of its own and does not phone home. We don't collect usage statistics, analytics, crash reports, identifiers or anything you browse or type. There is no SplitBrowse account and no advertising.
What leaves your PC
Like any browser, SplitBrowse connects to other services when you use it:
- Websites you visit receive the requests your browser makes, such as your IP address and the cookies they set. Each site's own privacy policy applies.
- Your search engine (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo or Perplexity, whichever you choose) receives anything you type in the address bar that isn't a web address.
- Microsoft Edge WebView2, the Microsoft component that SplitBrowse uses to display web pages, is maintained and updated by Microsoft. Any data it exchanges with Microsoft is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Windows may report app crashes to Microsoft according to your Windows diagnostic data settings. Microsoft can share aggregated reports of those crashes with app developers. SplitBrowse itself sends nothing.
- The Microsoft Store handles purchases, trials, licences and updates. We receive aggregated sales and install reports from Microsoft, never your payment details.
This website
splitbrowse.pages.dev sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
Children
SplitBrowse does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
